Mint Adds Goals Page, yay!

I saw an article the other day about Aaron Patzer at some NYC school - telling kids about personal finance. He announced/off handed remarked/ was reported in the article that Mint.com is going to add a "Goals" tab.

I'm so excited! Freaking finally!!! Mint.com has been a little stagnant lately with the integration with Intuit. They've done some clean up work - IE added a lot more banks. Though one of my co-workers still can't add his wife's car for some reason... but there are a lot of banks and accounts out there. It's got to be a lot of work to add all that.

The reason I'm so excited about Goals - is because I don't have to use two sites now. I can stop using JustThrive. The only thing I really used JustThrive for was goals. JustThrive did a lot of weird stuff recently - like you can't actually budget yourself - it budgets for you. Okay - so JustThrive while I know your programmers are smart - they don't know when my car insurance is coming up, and can't plan for it. So it's not really useful in actual month to month budgeting.

I also read an article the other day (probably on digg) that said that people who budget for the year are more likely to be on track than people who only do monthly stuff. I think they are probably right. It makes sense to save up for a couple of months for stuff like Christmas presents, vacations, car insurance bills, etc. Rather than go over one month because of these yearly expenses. I need to go back in and re-budget looking at it from a yearly perspective. It's a good time too - seeing as we're a quarter in to the year.
