Disappointed in David Axelrod

There's a huge national debate about Healthcare going on right now. No one really knows the details - everyone is worried about them and therefore spreading rumors. It's like high school all over again.

Why am I disappointed? B/c David Axelrod the Head of Marketing US policy to its citizens has failed at marketing this one. Too much hype, not the right sell to the right people, and un-targeted marketing is pushing public opinion down quickly. The marketing department of the white house needs to pick this one up quick and get a grassroots organization to start pushing support of this bill. This grassroots organization could rial support where opposition has hit hard already. Don't go on the defensive, don't give up, and do what you did in the election. This is not a policy problem - b/c no one knows what's even in the policy yet. This is a marketing problem. Overpromising and delivering nothing so far. People are getting antsy.

Please, for the love of healthcare in the US, take this month long congressional break, and get some grassroots support together like you did for the president. Start organizing, start getting groups who care about it, gain support of small biz owners who it could help, get together groups of the poor uninsured, get together groups of the working poor - those who just benefited from the increased minimum wage. Motivate these people to get the word out to seniors - making sure they have the right information, get church groups together to support a bill that provides healthcare to the people in their congregations that they currently support/are trying to help themselves, get NGO's who are dealing with this stuff (think food banks, homeless shelters, and those who work and volunteer there) get them to pass the word.

Start leaking information to these groups, start getting their support together, start organizing and getting a grass roots effort to gain support.

In this age of fast information travel (I mean - my god - with twitter and the crazy use of the internet everyone knows everything so quickly. The entire US knew that MJ died within like an hour of it being announced b/c of twitter. It's like a giant rumor mill - THAT THE NATIONAL MEDIA FOLLOWS!!! - see Iran Election.)

David Axelrod - Pull it together. Take a breath, think, and do what you do best. Don't think of what you've done in the past that has/hasn't worked. Wipe the slate clean, take a look at the situation, assess and go through. Don't get caught up in the Washington politics like everyone else. Most of the country isn't caught up in the politics. Get the people on your side - and we'll push the senators how we want them to go.

Get some cash and donations and launch a major campaign come September.
