I think I'm getting old

I went to NY for a trade show last week. I normally find NY great, I'm excited to go, there's always a ton to do. I didn't really want to go, I felt way overwhelmed at work - and taking a trip for work was the last thing I wanted to do. But I had to go, it was a trade show.

We took the 8:30 Accela down, we get there, and I am so annoyed. Not just at traffic, but at the entire city. By the end of the first day, I was so over NY. I love Boston/Cambridge, but for some reason NY hit me the wrong way and all I wanted to do was get the hell out of there. It might have been the massive crowds on the sidewalks that you had to dodge around, it might be the fact that it's the beginning of tourist season, the stars might have just aligned the right way. In all cases, I really wasn't feeling it, and not just the part where I had to work. It just felt all the same, and I was completely uninterested.

It made me feel old to not want to be in NY.

In start-up land news, @JeremySkelly made an awesome logo for the company site. The guys have gotten a good start on the meat of what we are trying to doing. I can't wait until we have a working prototype for people to use. The reason that we're making the site is because it's a tool that each of the four of us would like to use.

One of my friends and I were talking and I realized that I was being really stupid with my cash. I was holding a lot of cash in "high interest" savings accounts. I realized that it was a stupid move seeing that I wouldn't need it anytime soon, and that I should stick the part that was not allocated as "emergency savings" or other short term goals into the market. So I bought a few stocks that I thought would do well over the long haul. I've held them for about a month now, and I've made money on all of them so far. So I think I'm doing pretty well for my first time. We'll see how long this winning streak goes on. I'm sure I'll pick some losers.
