Milk and Bread

John Steward really put it best how I feel about the Israeli/Palestanian conflict. The whole things makes me really mad; being over there less than a year ago and talking to the people who lived there really gave me a very different view of the conflict. It is really just a hate war of the Israelis vs anyone that they think does not fully support them and won't give them carte blanche for whatever they feel like doing. If you don't fully support them you are against them. Whenever you make comments about the fact that it seems wrong some of the stuff that they are doing; everyone always just defended themselves by saying - "well, but the Palestianians have done crappy things for a lot longer than us."

Let me just say right now, I call 'bullshit' on that one.

It takes two to be in a conflict. Neither group is right. Each time one side does something to piss off the other side - it's like they don't expect to have a major push back.

I really feel like the Israelis have taken advantage of their good relationship with the United States in terms of expecting support for all of their decisions. All of their decisions good or bad. I really hope in the future we can be a bit more ration in our support of other countries decisions. If it's a good decision not only for that country, but the US AND the rest of the world; great let's support it. If it is really only good for that country - fuck that shit.

The real world is full of compromise. I think that we should start expecting that out of Isreal too. Palestine is not the bad guy in a 2000+ year conflict. At this point no one knows who started it. The question is which side is big enough emotionally, and big enough in terms of rallyin their people around the idea of living peacefully with people that they don't always agree with.

I guess living in the US makes you used to having people around you that you don't agree with, don't share religion with, don't even eat similar foods. Yet we find common ground.

It's time for the people of the middle east to grow up and learn to share and live together without tryign to kill each other.
