I'm a Rockstar!
A) I love my job. Love it love it love it.
B) The people I work with are awesome.
C) I'm a rockstar!
So I totally sold enough stuff in the last two days to pay for my salary for the rest of October. I feel like the work I've been putting in is finally starting to pay off. That's not even all the marketing stuff that I've done that hasn't really been utilized to its full effect. I believe that the technical information that I've been able to communicate is going to be essential to the marketing effort in proving that we have a valuable product, and therefore deserve value based pricing not commodity based pricing. I've also shown that we can get significantly higher margin than we've gotten in the past. Like CRAZY margin. All because I can properly communicate the technical advantages of our product and therefore 'prove' to people that we have a very valuable product that they can't get somewhere else and therefore need to pay our prices - which are reasonable based on the value that we bring.
I'm so awesome! The 'company' sent me flowers as a congratulations for my first bigish sale. How cute is that? I feel like they really value me and what I bring to the company. I'm not sure that everyone really understands what I'm doing or why. I guess it's because I don't give boundaries to my job, at least not yet where there are only 10 people. If something has to be done, I'm there. I don't care if it is selling product, writing marketing material, production work, inspecting product to go out, working on product development, or installing new measurement equipment. I'm there baby. I don't think that everyone likes my additude; and they think that I should not step on people's toes. I'm not worried about stepping on people's toes. I'm trying to help those people get everything done in a day, because there is so much work to do there is no possible way that we could get it all done in a reasonable amount of time unless we work together. I feel like I'm trying to foster teamwork in a very real down to earth kind of way, along with fostering better communication between team members, and trying to keep the right focus on the business and generating additional income to keep us alive.
I don't love it every minute I'm there. Like today - I spent half of my day inspecting individual parts that were going out to a customer. Because we are so small, and aren't really selling enough product yet, we can't pay for one person to do the production work like quality inspection. So, we have to do it with the people we currently have. I don't love that part.
I do love the part where we make money, people recognize how valuable our product is from a technical standpoint, and we continue being in business. I love working with people and getting them to move forward in both technical understanding and in their careers. I like getting people to work together and fostering communication between team members in order to accomplish more with less time; along with vetting new ideas and fostering innovation.
I love my job.
Love it.
