Live where you work or Live where you play

I've always subscribed to this philosophy. I think it started when I moved to Rochester. I lived close to work, but far enough away it was slightly annoying. On top of that I didn't really live near anything to do. There were a couple things within a few blocks, but it wasn't the best place to go at night. I learned that it would be better to either live close to work and drive where you are going to go play - or to live where you play and drive out to work.

My sense of working and playing has changed a lot since then. I thought being in the city was playing. Not so much anymore. The great part about living in the city is that everything is close and it takes less time to run errands - and I can typically do them on my way home. The bad part is that there are so many freaking people around you all the time. You have to get away from the city to do any kind of outdoor play. I mean you go outside and walk or bike places that you typically couldn't do in the suburbs. But at the same time if you were in the suburbs that is completely sub optimal - because you are neither close to work or to play. I chose the city b/c I go to work more often than I go to play. Therefore less time would be wasted. A year ago I would have said that I chose the city to play in. It's weird how much you change over a short time.

Well, I've got a but ton of stuff to do today - including work. Plus vacation is going to be a lot crazy b/c Kyle now has to go to Mexico next week for work, so he's got to have everything ready to go before Monday, ship everything needed, have his entire wardrobe for two weeks of both work, outdoors, and Vegas packed. That's a huge range of clothes. I just hope that by the time he flies into Phoenix that he can relax a bit and we can forget about work for a week and have fun. I don't want to stress about work more than I am already (super stressing about work.) Whatever, I'm sure that we'll figure it out. I'm good with making up a Plan B.
