Troodon
Driving sucks. I'm tired of everyone bitching about gas prices too. If you can't afford it - then stop driving. I know that most of the population is dumb and spends as much as they make, but that' not my fault and I can't give you a quick fix to the problem. The problem doesn't lie within the fact that gas prices are rising, it lies within the fact that you fail to have a good budget. Stop spending money on stupid shit like IPods and MacBooks and all sorts of shit that you don't really need. I have no pity for the stupid drones in life.
There are three different kinds of people at work. Yes, that's right only three. There are heroes, rock stars, and drones. Heroes are the people that when push comes to shove, they come in and save the day, they do whatever it takes to save the day. The rock stars aren't really interested in saving the day, they are more interested in doing it right this time and every time so there is never a situation where saving the day is necessary (because they won't save the day unless absolutely necessary - because they would have structured things where saving the day was never an option.) They create solutions to problems that you didn't even know that you had - but magically after they are done things work a lot better, and the heroes don't have a job to do anymore. Both of these types of people are critical for companies, especially small companies with limited staff and maximal need for productive employees. The problem comes in as a company grows, that if you had only heroes and rock stars - they would just keep competing with each other and there would be a horrible culture of intense competition all the time. That's where the drones come in; they don't care so much about work or about solving problems. They would like to just do what is in their job description, nothing more, nothing less, collect their paycheck and go home and sit in front of the TV (or whatever else they feel like doing.) The drones are great in a lot of ways. You don't have to pay them as much as heroes and rock stars, they even out the playing field so that the heroes and rock stars always feel like they are on top of the pack, and they are checks and balances on the heroes and rock stars because they ensure that all the work that they did was completed well enough that a drone could complete it without further thought required. If anyone would like to debate this point - I'd like to hear it.
I'm definitely a rock star personality - I just need to find a place where they appreciate rock stars - and maybe where the people find RockBand amusing. I don't do the drone thing.
McCormicks and Schmitts tonight - Thanks Mark & Lars for the free dinner!
