Island of the Honest Man

After Josh's comment - I thought about it some more - and I think it's actually more common than I thought. There's another girl that I work with the moved here - and her husband still hasn't found a job here. She/he drives almost every weekend.

Still doesn't make the idea any more acceptable to my sensibilities.

It's really interesting to see what kind of crap people will put up with for what reward. So many people have left my company for other places b/c they don't want to put up with the crap. Yet I'll put up with it - even though I hate it. I still haven't moved on. Sometimes it feels all like it's going to be a little anti-climatic... well see if anything happens.

Sometimes I think - what the fuck am I waiting for? Why am I waiting for the actions of other people why don't I just make it happen? It's really hard working for a company that you don't get to make the decisions as to what to do. I don't think it's hard getting your ideas toss around or tossed out or any of that stuff - but rather having the responsibility/ability to act on certain things. I don't always understand why certain decisions are made - and there's never explanations. Maybe I'll be able to go it alone at some point.

I took my dress for Lauren's wedding into work to have one of the women I work with take it in. Apparently my boobs make it so that I have to order a size larger - but now the rest of it doesn't fit... *sigh* I think it's just a way for them to make more money. Why do guys get to rent tuxes and girls have to buy the freaking dresses? Maybe guys don't have as much variability in sizes - but you'd think that they'd be able to come up with a system like that for girls - to make things easily adjustable on dresses to fit them (they did invent Velcro you know.)
Sizing for girls is another pet peeve of mine. Girls get innocuous numbers that are supposed to stand for some "standard" when in fact there's nothing that they can measure it off of - so it's no standard at all. Whereas guys get a pants size in inches! I have to envy them. Though I can't say that even sizes in inches would do me much good - it's usually the cut that's bad and not the sizes.... I guess there's just too much variability in girls - which is why them come up with some stupid naming scheme to give you an idea - without having to nail down the specs.
