OMG that's a lot of HP books
Amazon has 2.2million pre-orders. Or one out of every 43 households (this doesn't count all those people who are too impatient to wait for the 10:30am delivery.) Rochester NY has about 436,000 households. That's about 10,000 books to rochester alone at 3lbs a piece. Are they just sending one UPS truck to Rochester with all the HP books? That's like one Semi full of HP books for just Amazon orders only to Rochester. Flipping crazy amount of books.
That's got to be a major logistics issue for UPS. Amazon too has to have a crazy good system to be able to ship out that many books. But I bet the only thing that they change on each package is the label on the outside - they just slap another one on and send it on to UPS. I hope that UPS gave Amazon a discount for all these next day Saturday deliveries. Otherwise that's a lot of lost margin.
I've got nothing to do this weekend other than obsesses about HP until it gets here. I'm trying to distract myself. It's like Christmas when I was 8 years old and was excited about getting presents. Now Christmas is not as exciting and I'm much more interested in the present of added Christmas sleep than unwrapping things that I typically can't play with until I get to my apartment like a week later. I should ask for more toys for Christmas. The problem is that I have most of the toys that I want - and the toys that I do want are whicked expensive and no one is going to buy me a present that expensive.
It's really hard to be patient when they're already reading HP in Europe!!!
