Continue to Rave about Nike +

I have to say that the Nike+ system is really awesome. I know some people out there with Ipods that aren't Nano's are probably a little annoyed. But since I already have a Nano - this thing is Awesome.

Some people might not like it. But I'm in love with the fact that I get quantitative data for my runs. I can see my average pace, where I was going fast and for how long, how far I went, etc. It's such a great training tool and for me a huge motivator. I can read all the books and do all the research about what I'm supposed to be doing - but without someone with me being able to see where I'm going wrong - I just do what "feels right" and not what makes logical sense. I can then come back look at my runs - look at the trends and correct any issues that I'm having. It's absolutely the greatest thing since sliced bread. I can also set goals for my running online - like how far or how fast I want to go and it will automatically keep track of everything - all I have to do is plug in my Ipod to my computer and remember to visit the Nike+ site to see where I'm at.
I guess it's the engineer in my that wants quantitative data as to what I am doing. It's such a motivator for me because I can look at the data and see how much I've improved in the last month and see that I am actually making progress.

I can even tell during my runs that I am making good progress - it's much easier than it used to be. Some days it is still a matter of dragging myself out there - and that first half mile or so just sucks - but once I'm out there I am really happy that I did. Some days the runs really suck it up and they're just a huge drop in performance. But, there is definately an upward trend of faster and longer distances - along with more consistency in my pace - which makes it much easier to run faster - longer, without running too fast at any point in time. It's nice to have real-time feedback during your run to see how fast you are going. It's like the ability to look down at the treadmill pace thing - but outside - without a boring treadmill - with fresh air and sunshine - and wind off the river etc.

I think that whole runner's high thing is very true for me. I feel much better in general - and overall just feel better about myself after running. I'm not sure if it's the measurable accomplishment part - or if it's just the endorphines from the running. Either way - I don't care much what it is - but just the fact that it's there.

I have to say it is also helping the horrible PMS that I've been getting lately. The last 6 months or so have been really bad - but the running seems to help a bit- at least mentally - I don't feel quite so frazzled. It doesn't really help the physical stuff like the bloating or cramps though.... :-(

I want to talk about work - but I'm afraid I'll jinx it. But I'm actually starting to get to work on some of the projects that I think are fun and actually challenging. It's much more fun - though it's in addition to my normal workload - so that sucks. But hopefully it will be the whole pulling people up the ladder - and I'll be one of the people getting pulled up.

I'm really excited about Vegas next week. I already mapped out a run around the casino I'm staying at... sick I know. Hopefully it will be a pretty relaxing couple of days ... I'm just hoping for some partying and fun! I'm glad that I have a savings account to raid just for vacation fun! I'm totally bringing some Harry Potter to read on the planes/sitting by the pool. I'm totally excited about the new book. I should probably pre-order from Amazon now.

How many horcruxes are left? I know Tom Riddle's Diary was one, Dumbledore got rid of one, I think the necklace in OTF that they could open is another one (the faux horcrux they tried to open had RAB - Regulus A. Black - Sirus's brother perhaps?) I think if I look back to all the books I'll perhaps fine one horcrux per book - which would be 6 total. One of the girls I work with thinks that Harry is actually one of the horcruxes - and that Harry will have to die. I really don't like this thought - and I don't think JK will want to kill off Harry - her fans might want to well... kill her for that. Though it is totally plausible when thinking about them :-( She also thinks that Dumbledore is not really dead b/c of all the Phoenix smbology at his funeral - and that he will rise out of the ashes like Falkes. I'm not so sure of this - I think he's a goner. She had a crazy theory that Dumbledore's shrived hand was really a disease that had been slowly taking over his whole body throughout the year and he was trying to fight it off. Again - shady theory I think. Though we both agree that we think Snape is good. I'm convinced that Snape is going to get snuffed in book 7 and she think's that Harry is going to die. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I accomplished a lot this past week - bought my dress & shoes for Lauren's wedding in Sept. Bought my plane ticket for Seattle in August (btw Jess - my flight gets in at like 11:15pm on July 31st - and I have a red-eye back to Rochester on Sunday.) Got that allergy testing done for the clams stuff - I'll have to wait a couple days for the results though - even then my doctor told me that they weren't the most accurate and may all come back negative even if I am allergic.... and to just be careful and slowly introduce seafood into my diet. I've never had a bad reaction to anything else - and I eat seafood a couple times a month. (The doctor looked suprised when I told her I eat seafood a couple times a month. I asked her if that was normal - and that I liked seafood so I ate it - she said that most people don't eat seafood very often. Weird. I love the stuff. Maybe most people are poor and can't afford it???)

I did divulge into a new venture this week - natural peanut butter. I thought that it would be much grosser than it actually is. I know it's supposed to be better for you because it's just ground up peanuts without all the extra sugar, fat, and emulsifiers added. It is suprisingly tasty. For me it's not much different than normal peanut butter - because I usually add honey on top of the peanut butter. So with the natural peanut butter + honey tastes just about the same to me as the processed peanut butter + honey. I think it's actually a bit better - because it's not so sweet.

Well, I've got quite a bit to do today - I need to complete some stuff for work - and I need to do some stuff around the house.

Anyone having any other cool parties this summer? I wanna go!
