8.3 Million Copies

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows sold 8.3 million copies in the first 24 hours. Scholastic only printed 12 million. Holy crap! That's like 9% households bought a copy in the first day. That's a large part of the population. Talk about crazy cultural phenomenon. That's got to be a record.

I need to go shopping - I haven't gone in a while and now it's getting to the point where it's absolutely necessary. I'm not that big a fan of shopping. I like looking at pretty clothes, and designer outfits and judging them (maybe it's just the judging that I like... a little unsettling thought.) But someone it's not that fun to have to dig through clothes that I can actually afford - find stuff that fits and looks good trying on TONS of stuff. It's just not that fun. I'd much rather be doing something funner.

What's up with the guy from LOST being shown on previous for some new show on CBS. HELLO! You're on LOST!

I'm watching this news report on this guy Rick Bruman - who basically fights against all the people who hype up things. The only issue that I have is that he is fighting for corporate america against all these super hyped up scare tactics that we always see in the media. However - I think he's just as bad. He hypes it up the opposite way. While the media tries to make thing seem black - he shows the white side. It's a little hypocritical don't you think to do the same exact thing that the other side is? Trying to hyper-polarize people the other way? The problem is that he doesn't admit that he's doing the exact same thing - just on the other side of the issue. He plays it off as he's "educating" the American public on different issues.
"I just want to make people think." Bullshit - you just want to make money and you're willing to sell your soul to corporate America and be just as bad as the Lobbyist that you lobby against.

Can I just say that I love Anderson Cooper? He's always willing to ask the questions everyone else is thinking; and is willing to call people on the hard stuff. I think part of the reason that people respond to him as a Journalist is because you always have these sense that he's as unsure of himself as the person he's interviewing. Not that he's unsure of himself in the journalistic sense - he knows he's competent at what he does. It's more of a not being comfortable in his own skin thing; almost like he's trying to prove something to himself or something. He's got this vulnerability to him - which is what everyone loves - and why no one who watches him will ever know more about him that the opinions he expresses in his interviews about different issues. I don't know if that's the sign of an outstanding journalist - or he's an outstanding journalist because of the inborn/nurtured trait. Meh - he's amusing to watch and doesn't do many "fluf" pieces that are so prevalent in the news these days.

I like fluff though too. Give me a little National Geographic with my InStyle.

I love contradictions and conspiracy theories. Can't you tell?
