LOST Symbols
Anyone else notice the huge amount of symbolism that they use on LOST? It's not just the little tid-bits that you need to piece together to get everything. Or the items that they hint at until they finally reveal them.
I mean the full out smack you in the face kind of symbolism? Like the fact that Hurley was "in the drivers seat" when he came to the epiphany that the "bad luck" wasn't happening anymore and that he was now controling his own life and destiny. Anyone notice the fact that Charlie was in the passenger seat -- just like he's been his whole life -- just like he's been to Desmond's prediction that he will die. He's just letting it happen. He's not taking control of anything.
We haven't seen much of Siayd lately -- and that's sad. Whenever Locke gets involved with something though -- it always seems to go wrong or something really strange and unexpected happens. We still don't know what put him in the wheelchair (do we?)
Kate feels this obligation to go help Jack (or is it love?) and to go back into danger for someone. This is exactly the opposite that she acted like in real life. She never felt obligation to other people. She left one guy after she married him -- she made a commitment and felt no obligation. Where there's no commitment with Jack and now she's obligated.
In some sense I think the Island is just looking for the survivors to change. Clearly the others haven't changed at all and that's why they are stuck. Or do the Others not want things to change and the survivors are forcing them to?
I'm just waiting for Julliet to freak out like Carrie. (Stephen King Novel.)
