Long Time
I know it has been a while since I posted... but honestly nothing that exciting has happened.... well kind of not exciting. My company might have some production issues if we can't find a supplier. That could be an issue. So in <6 weeks we might have to shut down production... awesome.
I went boozing with Josh, Joe & Jamie in Cleveland last weekend. Nick was supposed to come - but he totally bailed. It was amusing. Nothing too exciting. We did go watch 300 on Sunday. It was okay -- lots of violence. I guess the Iranians aren't too excited about it and have a whole conspiracy theory about the US government funding it to turn the US against Iran. Honestly though, I didn't know until there was a news story that Persians came from Iran. I didn't connect the two. I would like to think I'm pretty smart and pretty globally aware. If I didn't connect the two I doubt that any significant portion of the population would have gotten it. This just makes me think that they are completely paranoid fucks. They must have a lot of time on their hands if they think that. They haven't even seen the movie. It's not even about people in the US - it's about Spartans who are greek (and really buff I must say - they must have found every buff guy in Hollywood and just booked him for eye candy.)
I got a call yesterday for Arizona #1 asking me if I'd like to go interview. Hopefully my flight will actually take off this time and I'll actually go to go. Would be nice.
I've been applying to a lot of other places too. We'll see what happens. I'm slowly refining everything. It takes a bit of time to get myself together and make sure I'm targeting my resume and cover letter correctly. I work in such a small company and do so many things that aren't my main job function -- that I need to make sure to include the important ones to give a true picture of what I've done and what I'm capable of doing.
It's hard b/c not all companies realize that having a motivated smart employee who is excited about what they are do is way more valuable than an unmotivated person who already knows the industry. People get tricked into thinking that their little industry is so unique and that no one else could learn it -- rather than think about the bigger picture that they had to learn it at one point too.
I hope I can find something soon. We'll see what happens with CT & AZ. Hopefully I'll hear something from one of the CA places soon. I hate this waiting thing.
Oh -- I almost forgot to mention. This guy at work hit on me today. The only problem is he could be my dad. He even winked at me. WINKED! Ewwww weird.... I didn't really give him a hard turn down b/c I have to work with him every day. But he's the type of guy that will push it until I basically tell him he has no chance, but that could make for weirdness. At least he's not in my department.
