Fired?!?!?

So at 4pm today I was semi-chatting with one of our semi-new employees. And the lady I've been really annoyed with at work, not because she's a bad person or anything, but because she's a little slow on the up-take, comes over to us and says "Goodbye." So I was like oh she's going home for the day "Goodbye X, I'll see you tomorrow." She looks me in the eye and is like "no, goodbye." uh-oh. Not really having it all sink in, I'm like, umm okay "Bye." So I kinda eye the semi-new employee like "ummmm I don't get it."

A few minutes later "goodbye" lady's boss asks me and another empolyee to go into his office. Uh-ohhhh am I getting canned too? He promptly sits us down and tells us that there were some issues that made him "not trust her anymore." Uhhh okay. And that since she wasn't a full-time employee yet (she was a temp to begin with) he wasn't planning on offering her full-time employment, and that was good because it let her know now.... right.... She's only been there as long as I have. I don't understand what she could have done in the two weeks that he's been there that was so big to have him fire her. I think I know her work habits more, and I've worked with her more closely than he has. I know she made some mistakes but firing? I just don't get it.

What is even more prolific is that I went to lunch with her today and she made a comment about how she wasn't a full employee at the company and could get fired at anytime. I wonder if he had already had a talk with her about her preformance? It really came a suprise to me.

And with all the other volitility at the company right now, and people moving to other companies, etc, restructing different departments and now you're going to add to that by firing a person who's been there for quite a while? It just makes me rethink my decision to move to Rochester. What happens if they decided to do the same thing to me. It came as a total shock that she got fired. They could decide to fire me tomorrow. I just don't get how he thinks everything is going to function better now that she's gone, it just adds move volitility to the department already, and makes my job a hell of a lot busier.

*Sigh* Another day another dollar I think I'm going to start keeping my eyes posted for new positions. This added volitility does not bode well.
